Rita, I don't think any of us have a corner on always getting this right. I do think we get better at discerning the voice of God as we walk closer with Him. Jesus said in John 10 that His sheep know His voice. I have sometimes read that and thought I must be a hard of hearing sheep because sometimes it is not completely obvious to me what He is saying. I have been taught most of my life to wait until I have total clarity before taking action and only recently have I received different counsel. Andy Stanley suggests that we should go and actively follow what we believe to be a leading from God by leaning more into a bias for action verses a bias to get stuck second guessing ourselves. His mantra is "Go unless He says no". That has freed me to trust God more and to take action on what I sense He is saying to me.

I had to do some input.....I have been what I honestly feel as nudged by God so many times since giving myself up to Him. I have this overwhelming feeling sometimes to act on things even things that are out of my comfort zone. This feeling is so strong sometimes that my heart races then at other times it is just a gentle nudging of my thoughts. I try so hard to act on these nudgings with a Christian heart and when I do it is like I feel in my heart I have truly pleased God.....then other times when I think oh I can't do that! God can't possibly want me to do that....am I just imagining this ?....this is when I feel like I have really let God down. I do have to say that I have had so many blessings from obeying what I feel is God nudging me to do something. I know God deserves my very best at all times...he deserves my trust and obedience...even those times when I just can't tell if it is Him talking to me or if my imagination is working overtime. I am curious how others feel about nudgings and how they act on them.

I have felt like the last three years of my life have been a series of test. I manage , only through God's grace to face each test. There is a part of me that whines, " It's not fair" , " I want to feel like I am me again", " I want my life back" , " Let something just go right, I so tired of struggling".
I sometimes forget to look beyond what is not , for what is. This week the girls and I collected pine cones, smeared them with peanut butter, and rolled them in bird seed . It was more than a special treat for the birds, or time for us... it showed me that I am me still and I still have my life... it could be so much worse, and it is when I fail to see the gifts I still have. I am on able to come church physically but through the dvd's and online services I am there. When you lift your voices in song I can fell the love too.

When on the worship team I have noticed each time more than one person looking like they have lost their best friend. It saddens me yet I have learned, maybe through God's prompting, to lift up a prayer right then and there to God that whatever is going on in this person's life that He would please get in the midst and help them know that He is there for them. Every day is a celebration of life, but Sunday is our time to be with other believers to Worship God and be united in our worship and this should make us happy. I love God and I want to do my all for Him but yes on some Sundays I too may not feel well or have something bearing on my mind and I know it can be hard to keep on task and keep a smile on my face. I do have to say that I am looking forward to the day when I am able to look out and see everyone in the Church with their hands held high praising God! What a day that will be! A good philosophy for our church could be..... "Down with the frowns and up with the crowns! I made that up! :)

Pretty amazing to me that no matter the location, there are always people that miss the opportunity to worship. It is tough to watch from the stage as a majority of the people spend the majority of the service stone faced and disconnected from the service. While I am sure that there are occassions when outside events cause times of distraction, it is the people that repeatedly and seemingly habitually miss out on what God would have from them. A wise man once told me that I shouldn't pay tuition for the same lesson, so hopefully we as a body can wake up and realize the opportunity that we have to worship, not only in a service but in life.

Over the past few months I have noticed an annointing on the pastors in our church. This is exciting to watch God move in favor of these preachers as they let loose and preach with the power and passion that God has gifted them with. I also believe God has a powerful annointing waiting for our church to receive.

Hey, Doug! You really want to dig deep! I hope there are some things that we share with our ancestors only a few hundred years ago, because I hope that some of the things we do are shared with our ancestors 2000 years ago!

I guess one of the big things is just getting together--fellowship!! I am guessing they didn't get together as often back then in church because it was just too much work to get any where! But the joy of meeting with other believers and sharing life was still there. Although the amount of physical work and the difficulty in traversing distance were deterrents to fellowship at church, the fact that you often worked side by side with someone all day to talk (no loud machinery, no phone or computer to take our attention). Physical work side-by-side provides lots of opportunities to talk, share life, share faith. Also, transportation allowed you to be "friendlier" with other folks, as you could talk to others who were traveling and not zip by in a closed, sound-proofed automobile.

I also hope we share some of the same sacraments in terms of communion and baptism, and even maybe some of the same hymns or psalms, prayers or verses.

Other things, I don't know. Obviously some of the superficial stuff has changed. And people are different today, too. But I think God still reaches us the same, one-on-one, in the quietness of our hearts and minds. I think his appeal is the same. I think his message is still the same.

The song, "Lord, I'm Amazed by You," sums up my thoughts on finding God in daily living. I have to wonder how often he is "dancing over me, and I am unaware." Sometimes he has to step on my toes to get my attention! I can think he is no where around, and all of the sudden he just shows up!!

The most recent that really amazed me was as I was putting away laundry in the our closet (see, I thought I was just doing laundry!). I had been worrying about something, and God showed up to tap my on the shoulder and remind me that he had it under control, to stop worrying! I was so amazed by this word of wisdom and his timing about the situation!

An online devotion I was just reading reminded me that to really hear from God on a regular basis, we need to be reading and meditating on His word, and spending regular time in prayer. Sometimes I am neglectful of these things, then I wonder why I haven't heard from him in awhile. When I stop to pray and listen, I am amazed at how he shows up!
